Unspoiled Reviews - Incredibles 2

08/05/2018

After all the hype, the theories, and the 14 long years of waiting, it's finally here. The Incredibles 2 has to be the film which I have been looking forward to watching most this year, and after watching all of the trailer several times, I was slightly nervous that it was going to let me down. So last night, I finally found enough time, and a quiet enough screening, that I could watch one of my favorite childhood films return for the next installment!

And honestly...

This film had some big shoes to fill after the great reception of the first one, and it did that justice!

I'm not going to talk much about the plot, as this is an unspoiled review, but there will be a short look over some bits here. If you want to skip this bit, then scroll down to the next picture (it's Jack Jack, you can't miss it), and you'll get straight to my comments on the rest of the film.

Now they're gone. Let's continue.

This film picks up right where the previous one left off, starting back in the football ground with the arrival of The Underminer, and right off the back the film shows that after 14 years they have not lost themselves. The film's plot follows the family as they struggle with parental role reversal, teenage troubles, supervillains, and the most troublesome baby imaginable. The plot centres on simple foe the most part, but executed brilliantly, keeping to gripped on the story and always wanting more.

The script of the film is absolutely full of great laughs, probably the funniest superhero film I've ever watched (sorry Deadpool). I won't spoil any of it for you, but I think that Jack Jack has to be one of the funniest characters of the entire film, and that's without him saying a single punchline!

So, on to the rest of the film.

The animation in the film is of exactly the same quality as the first one, and the vocal performances from the entire cast were absolutely incredible (pun definitely intended). I walked out of the cinema without a single complaint about the whole production of the film. There was no part of the cast, animation, or the general atmosphere of the piece which I think needed to be changed.
This film has such amazing attention to detail, in both the animation and the actor's performances, that I was completely engrossed and didn't even realise I'd put my foot in the empty popcorn bucket next to me. The whole experience was absolutely fantastic, I'm lost for other ways of describing it!

I'd love to go into it more, but I'm worried that if I did that then I'd say too much, so instead I'll insist that you go and watch the film for yourself! The first film got a slightly higher score on rotten tomatoes (97% for the first, 93% for the second), but I have to say that if you miss this film, you'll regret it!

So, I think I'll have to leave the review there.

Until next time

Tim
